The night

A women's only networking night for the women shaping cannabis in Maryland, held at El Guapo Speakeasy in The Basement in Catonsville. The room was packed. Taco bar, mocktail bar, and a full open bar for anyone who wanted a real drink, which was much loved. A recharge lounge, brand tables from the biggest names in the state, and speakers on the mic talking about what it is really like to build a career in a field run mostly by men.

The conversations kept coming back to the same thing. Women doing the work, women getting talked over, and women finding each other anyway. That part was beautiful.

The good

The food was delicious and the taco bar did not miss. The Nature's Heritage booth was beautiful and honestly one of my favorite stops of the night. And the samples we picked up from the store were such a fun little bonus.

The knock

Only knock: the music was a little too loud.

My two cents

As a homegrower and a small content creator, I live this. Guys will belittle you and talk right over you. They do not see you as someone they can learn from, even when you are better at growing than they are. Nights like this matter because for once, nobody had to fight to be heard.
